About ALATYR

ALATYR is a pioneering space infrastructure startup designing, assembling, and operating fully robotic orbital systems at industrial scale. Our core focus is Orbital Data Centers (ODCs): scalable compute hubs assembled and serviced robotically in orbit to enable large-scale, latency-sensitive AI and data processing. ODCs represent the next generation of space digital infrastructure, transforming space-originated data into strategic value. Built on proprietary modular architectures for power, compute, and thermal management, ALATYR’s systems scale from hundreds of kilowatts to multi-megawatt class infrastructure. Headquartered in France and expanding internationally, ALATYR is laying the foundations for permanent robotic orbital infrastructure.

Role Overview

Internship Overview

As a Robotics & Autonomous Systems Intern, working with the Director of Space Programmes, you will contribute to the development and validation of robotic and autonomous subsystems for ALATYR’s orbital infrastructure. You will work hands-on on ground demonstrators and simulations, supporting autonomy, control, and robotic integration activities. This internship offers direct exposure to cutting-edge robotic systems developed for space operations.

Key Responsibilities

Key Learning Experiences

Robotics & Control Support: Contribute to the development and testing of robotic subsystems, including actuation, sensing, and control algorithms.

Autonomy & Software Contribution: Support the implementation and integration of autonomy components such as state estimation, basic planning, and supervisory control.

Simulation & Prototyping: Participate in simulation, prototyping, and experimental validation activities on ground-based robotic platforms.

System Integration: Assist in integrating robotic software with avionics, sensors, and higher-level system architectures.

Documentation & Analysis: Document experiments, results, and design choices to support system-level trade-offs and future developments.

Qualifications

Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD in Robotics, Control Systems, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: Academic or project-based experience in robotics, control, or autonomous systems. Prior exposure to space systems is a plus but not required.

Skills
